Audio-Video Collaboration Company is Growing Rapidly
AVI-SPL, an audio-video collaboration company with over 1,500 employees in offices around the world, has expanded within Hacienda to an 11,000 square foot facility in the Britannia Business Center at 4255 Hopyard. The new space is about 40 percent larger than their previous facility, which was vacated earlier this month.
"We've just outgrown our current space. Last year, our growth was about 38 percent and we're on track to do at least very similar sized growth this year," says Matthew Dow, general manager of the company's San Francisco division. "As the market grows, our local presence is certainly growing as well, so that means staffing up, needing a larger warehouse and fabrication facilities for our projects. We're currently sitting at 40 employees; about a year ago, we were probably less than 30. By the end of the year I should be at 45-plus."
AVI-SPL is an audio visual integration company, which means they help businesses integrate the latest collaborative technologies into their workspaces. "We build out a lot of office facilities, so we'll build conference rooms with technology for collaboration, video and audio conference presentation," Dow says. "Those spaces can range from two-seat collaboration rooms up to multi-thousand seat theaters."
The company's quality is reflected in its impressive client list. "We service 86 of the Fortune 100 companies," Dow says. "There are a lot of names that you've heard of that we do a lot of business with locally. Kaiser is an example, and so is VMware. We do a lot of work with them and more like them."
AVI-SPL's growth stems in part from the fact that companies everywhere are discovering the value of collaborative technologies for both large and small groups.
"What a lot of these organizations are doing is building smaller huddle and collaboration type environments," says Dow. "We used to see a lot of rooms get built that were larger in size but now, as they build out new office spaces, they tend to build more meeting facilities but they're usually smaller - designed to drive collaboration - so our technology is really critical for them to collaborate between office locations, over video and audio, and then also employing things like screen sharing and annotation on documents."
AVI-SPL's popularity also stems from its ability to see a project through from conception to completion. "If you come to us and explain what your needs are, we'll help you steer you to a solution," he says. "We'll design the hardware that is required for that. We resell the hardware so we're a very large reseller of hundreds if not thousands of manufacturers. Our project management and engineering teams lead our projects as well as our programmers for the commissioning of our systems. We install all the technology, integrate it into the environment, and then we also have a full suite of ongoing service from a maintenance standpoint, including break fix, a 24 x 7 help desk. We can cloud host and manage your video network infrastructure as well."
AVI-SPL's headquarters are in Tampa, Florida. While most of the company's presence is in the United States, it also has three locations in Canada and the United Kingdom, one in Dubai, and recently opened an office in Germany.
